This is not a hologram (but it is a trailer). On Monday, Adult Swim unveiled the official trailer for Rick and Morty Season 7, introducing the new voices behind our titular grandfather-grandson duo. If this trailer is anything to go by, we’re in for plenty of action punctuated by delectable lasagna and the usual sci-fi hijinks.

The synopsis offers the show’s trademark biting self-awareness regarding the voice changes:

“Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever! It’s season seven, and the possibilities are endless: what’s up with Jerry? EVIL Summer?! And will they ever go back to high school?! Maybe not! But let’s find out! There’s probably less piss than last season. Rick and Morty, 100 years! Or at least until season 10!”

We don’t know about you, but that summary emits the vibes of Rick’s iconic Szechuan sauce speech. The trailer showcases Rick and Morty in their element, with Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” complementing our heroes’ exploits. We hear the supporting cast, including Sarah Chalke as Beth, Chris Parnell as Jerry and Spencer Grammer as Summer. Additionally, Susan Sarandon reprises her role as Dr. Wong.

However, the replacements for Justin Roiland are currently unknown. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two actors’ identities will be kept under lock and key until the show’s premiere. Bold move, Adult Swim. Something tells us the reveal might be surprising.

Admittedly, the voices sound almost identical to Roiland, with Rick’s actor nailing the sardonic raspiness (although his “yelling” isn’t quite the same). Morty’s actor is also solid. He captures Morty’s nasal sound.

Check out the new key art for the season and watch the trailer below. Brace yourself for Leg Rick and time-bending madness when Season 7 premieres on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 11 p.m. EST/PST on Adult Swim.
