Legendary game designers Richard Garfield and Justin Gary have announced their next project – SolForge: Fusion. The two initially worked together to bring the original SolForge game to life alongside Stone Blade Entertainment. It blends the traditional tabletop feel of decking building games with the massively popular digital market. It is a hybrid-style game that serves to make gameplay fluid, whether partaking with friends in person or playing remotely through Tabletop Simulator.
Gary, who has worked on other card games like Ascension Deckbuilding Game, shared, “SolForge: Fusion represents the culmination of over a decade of development from Richard [Garfield] and I to create a great game unlike any other. Players can customize truly one-of-a-kind decks to create a unique and compelling experience every time they play, whether in person or online.” The game will allow players to craft their own decks using different factions and play in head-to-head battles or tournaments.

If remote play is the only option for someone, they can take those cards and scan them into the game’s online database. SolForge: Fusion kicks their gameplay up a notch by having the cards level throughout gameplay. This means that players won’t just be focusing on building their deck at the start but also continually building it throughout the game. Fans of deckbuilding games will be able to jump right into the action with easy-to-understand rules but a complexity that leads to engaging gameplay.
With SolForge: Fusion‘s release right around the corner, Stone Blade Entertainment is holding in-person tutorials and tournaments throughout GenCon 2022. It will feature Stone Blade’s knowledge team explaining the rules, how to jump in on the action, and so much more. A complete list of the events can be found here. If you can’t make it there, Gary and Garfield have a helpful video to introduce you to the action and get you started.
SolForge: Fusion will be available everywhere games are sold starting September 22, 2022. For more information, check out the official website and follow them on social media! Will you be diving into this new game? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
