Werewolf in Resident Evil Village

For the second time this year, Capcom‘s highly acclaimed horror franchise, Resident Evil, has held a showcase to drop some major news on us. We were expecting to receive another trailer for the upcoming installment to the franchise, Resident Evil Village, plus so much more and we weren’t disappointed! The event was hosted by Brittney Brombacher of What’s Good Games alongside executive producer June Takeuchi, producer Tsuyoshi Kanada and director Morimasa Sato. This is a big year for the Resident Evil family as the franchise celebrates its 25th year and they are pulling all the stops to make it memorable. We’ve broken down all the exciting news from the showcase right here!

Resident Evil Village

If you are anything like me, you have already pre-ordered Resident Evil Village, tried to find someone with a PlayStation 5 to test out the demo and have rewatched the trailers over and over. Well, now we have a brand new trailer to add to the watch list and it is terrifyingly amazing and lycans! We get quite a few new clips mixed in with things we have seen before, including the beautiful Lady Dimitrescu. But as amazing as she is and the trailer was, I have quite a lot of questions about what will happen to Ethan and what is actually going on with Chris.

And if getting a new trailer wasn’t enough, they also announced that we have a brand new demo that will be available for players across all platforms. The demo is titled 8 Hours In Village and will give players an hour to explore both the village and Lady Dimitrescu’s castle. It is entirely up to the player how and where they spend their time. From the footage, it looks like we are going to see some action as well. Now, the demo will only be available during certain days, with North America’s taking place from May 1 starting at 5 PM until May 2 at 8 PM. Once the hour is up, players will have to wait!

Resident Evil Village is set to release on May 7, 2021, for PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and the Xbox Series X.

Extra Game Mode: The Mercenaries

Similar to other games within the franchise, Resident Evil Village will feature an extra game mode titled The Mercenaries. This combat mode will have players going head to head with waves of enemies. This time, the extra mode will include a store run by The Duke. It will feature new weapons to purchase and upgrade to survive this near never-ending wave of zombies and werewolves successfully. We can’t wait to see what is in store for us as well as what additional enemies are awaiting us around the corner.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

On the franchise’s television side, we were rewarded with a brand new trailer for the Netflix animated series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. The series will feature a new story that takes place in 2006 following the events of Resident Evil 4. Leon Kennedy is sent to the White House to investigate a hacking incident when he gets attacked by zombies because Leon just can’t seem to get away from them. In the trailer, we see him run into Claire Redfield, who is on an investigation of her own. She shows Leon a drawing made by a child refugee that reminds her a lot of Raccoon City. He warns her to stay out of trouble, but we all know that zombies, Leon and Claire, can only mean one thing – tons of trouble.

The best part of this announcement, aside from the brand new trailer, is that Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will be releasing on Netflix in July 2021! They also made a quick mention that the upcoming film has entered the final stages of production and to keep an ear out for more news in the future!

Dead by Daylight Crossover Chapter

AHHHH. I have decided to leave that in here because it completely describes my level of excitement about this announcement. I will admit that I had no idea what this was going on at first, but the scream and the swinging legs gave it all away. Two of my favorite video game franchises are finally coming together, Dead by Daylight and Resident Evil. The next chapter for the asymmetrical survival game will release in June 2021. Now Mathieu Côté didn’t give us too much information on who will be added to the Fog on either side (I’m hoping for Tyrant and Carlos because, duh).

If you want to know more, tune in during Dead by Daylight‘s 5th-anniversary stream on May 25, 2021, for more information. Dead by Daylight is available to play on PC through Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Seres X and the Nintendo Switch.

Resident Evil 4 VR

The Resident Evil showcase tied everything up with a look at an upcoming project for VR. The team has been hard at work updating Resident Evil 4 so players can dive into the world. Because if you weren’t immersed enough in the terrifying world of Resident Evil playing from your console, you are guaranteed to be now! It will be available for Facebook’s Oculus Quest 2. They didn’t share many details on when the game will be available or how much, but they did promise to release more during Facebook’s Oculus Gaming Showcase on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
