For a long time, Resident Evil fans have been begging Capcom to breathe life into one of the best games in the franchise, Resident Evil 4. And over the years, we have heard rumors and theories. But during today’s PlayStation State of Play, we received some of the best news yet. The official Resident Evil 4 Remake is on its way! And we don’t have to wait long either because this game will hit consoles next year.
Capcom shared a new trailer showing some pretty epic gameplay footage and cutscenes from the PlayStation 5. And Resident Evil 4 Remake sure has gotten a facelift. But that isn’t all. This is going to be a reimagining that will hopefully expand more on the story while also staying true to the elements that made the original so great. What could be better than more scary monsters, cults and mayhem?

It seems like the basic plotline of the story is still there. We see Leon heading off to rural Europe in search of the president’s daughter Ashley Graham. He is still dealing with what happened in Raccoon City and hoping that things will be different this time. For Leon, they have to be different. We also get glimpses of Ada Wong, which may mean that we will get the chance to play her outside of the additional scenarios.
The best part of the Resident Evil remakes as a whole is the gameplay and quality of life updates. Resident Evil 4 is still very playable even these days. But with the new RE Engine, we are sure it is going to look fantastic. And who doesn’t want to experience one of the best games in the franchise this way? We are excited to hear more about the updates and what we can expect going forward.
