Dun dun (cue Law & Order theme song)! As reported by Deadline, Syfy granted its critically acclaimed Alan Tudyk-led comedy Resident Alien a Season 3 renewal. It will consist of 12 episodes. This early pickup precedes the debut of Season 2B, slated for next month.

If you recall, the Season 2A finale culminates in Asta (Sara Tomko) shooting a Galvan/Powell Group employee who targeted Harry (Tudyk). D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) bears witness to the shocking event. What transpires next is a search for an alien baby while our fave Patience townees deal with the challenges arising from everyday life.

Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) will solve a significant case as the latter digs deep into her search for extraterrestrial life. Mayor Ben (Levi Fiehler) and Kate (Meredith Garretson) attempt to sell the town on a new resort, and D’Arcy overcomes a hurdle of her own. There’s still General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) and the peculiar new alien (portrayed by Enver Gjokaj) to contend with.

Also, since Harry failed to destroy the human race, a new species is roaming the planet. This failure puts Harry in the awkward position of trying to save the world he once longed to decimate.

Season 2B looks to launch the show to new heights, so I’m excited to see where this journey takes us. Resident Alien is a joyously heartwarming, bitingly funny series with terrific performances across the board. It was a pleasant surprise last year, and I’m thrilled we’ll get more adventures with Harry and the gang for a third go-round.
