This week has been pretty incredible for fans of the horror genre in video games. First, we received news of the brand new Resident Evil: Village, and now Modus Games has announced a release date for Remothered: Broken Porcelain. It follows in the footsteps of its predecessor Remothered: Tormented Fathers. This one continues Rosemary Reed’s quest to find the truth about the disappearance of Celeste. Creator Darril Arts and developer Stormind Games shared that this sequel will be even more twisted than the first.

The trailer opens with Rosemary speaking with Mr. Ashmann though we don’t know if she is ever at the inn. This story could take place during a different time. Instead of Rosemary, Remothered: Broken Porcelain follows protagonist Jennifer as she explores the Ashmann Inn. She will need to use her wits and resourcefulness to escape the horrors locked inside. Within the trailer we see several different characters Jennifer will need to evade including the red nun.

Visually Remothered: Broken Porcelain is a remarkable game. The team really made it a point to focus on every detail no matter how small. As far as the mechanics that are shown, they look familiar enough to the first game while also looking to have been expanded on. This includes a special power Jennifer holds. From the trailer, it almost looks as if she has the ability to control things with her mind.

The development team has shared that players do not have to play the first game in order to fully enjoy and understand the sequel. This is great for anyone looking to jump into the series now. However, personally I highly suggest checking out Remother: Tormented Fathers if you have the time to do so. It introduces major parts in the story as well as some of the mechanics the team has expanded on.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain will release on August 25, 2020 for PC through Steam, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
