During today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, Square Enix announced the released date for Dragon Quest Builders 2, the sequel to the 2016 JRPG sandbox game Dragon Quest Builders. The game will be released on July 12, 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
The game promises even more content, more building combinations, and a new multiplayer mode. There will be new characters, new worlds, and some additional game enhancements. This includes the ability to build larger structures, and fast travel by air, land, and sea. Players can build their own farms, create new water sources, and even enlist villagers to help in the construction efforts.
If you’ve played the first Dragon Quest Builders, then you know that this series pulls from the many games in the Dragon Quest catalogue. The first enemy was the Dragonlord himself, and players were able to rebuild classic Alefgardian cities like Cantlin, Rimuldar, Kol and Galenholm, and Tantegel.
The sequel will have a similar base story, with a Builder (male or female) rising up in dark times to rebuild the world one block at a time. In this story, the Children of Hargon are set to eliminate all creators from the world and have outlawed building and cooking. Our Hero escapes and meets a young man named Malroth. Together you go an adventure to rid the world of Children of Hargon while uncovering the mystery surrounding your new companion and bringing the light back to the land. It is not known whether or not you’ll be visiting old Dragon Quest lands, but

In addition to the single-player story, Dragon Quest Builders 2 will also have a true online multiplayer option that will be much different than the Terra Incognita mode in the first game. You and up to three of your friends will be able to build together on the same lands. This will undoubtedly produce some unique and creative cities.
As of right now Dragon Quest Builders 2 is only available for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch and there has been no talk of plans to release it for the PC.
