DISCLAIMER: This recap of Reginald the Vampire Season 2 Episode 6, “Blood, Sweat, and Glitter” contains spoilers. Proceed at your peril.

It’s all about “Blood, Sweat, and Glitter,” baby.

Reginald the Vampire‘s sixth episode keeps the narrative ball rolling as we learn a couple of story bombshells: Abraham is Balestro’s son, and Claire is the key to saving all vampires/defeating Balestro. Additionally, we shouldn’t underestimate Abraham. While he claims he plans to do nothing, something tells me he’ll swoop in as an asset at the last minute.

“Blood, Sweat, and Glitter” aligns more with the show’s brand of cheeky humor and heart. That said, it ends with a gut punch, so I’m sure we’re in for dramatic, choppy waters in the coming episodes.

Abraham’s Riddles

We open with Reggie (Jacob Batalon), Maurice (Mandela Van Peebles) and Sarah (Em Haine) arriving at the entrance of Abraham’s hotel in Spokane. A bellhop materializes out of thin air. Our trio must solve three riddles before they can enter the building, which they do like the pros they are.

Meanwhile, Todd (Aren Buchholz) continues channeling his efforts into persuading Mike (Ryan Jinn) to turn him into a vampire. Todd tries to get Mike to imagine them as hot vampire boyfriends. Mike lays down some healthy boundaries, stating that he’s not one to have boyfriends, although he enjoys spending time with Todd.

Then, he regales Todd with a story about being in a punk band in the ’80s. Mike thought he loved one of his bandmates, but it was more about the art they created than the person. Mike states that if Todd’s reason for becoming a vampire is so they can be together forever, he might want to reprioritize.

The Grimoire

Later, Angela (Savannah Basley) finds a note from Reggie about his Spokane trip and discovers Justine’s grimoire. Initially, she tries to dispose of it. However, the late vampire witch’s tome has a mind of its own and keeps reappearing in front of Angela. She decides to peruse it. Meanwhile, Reggie, Maurice and Sarah enter Abraham’s hotel, which looks rather empty.

Reggie recalls an elevator materializing the last time he was here. Sure enough, an elevator appears after he and Sarah weave together the riddles they answered to get inside. Elsewhere, Angela casts a spell to bring back her mansion. Unfortunately, she botches the spell, so her mansion is now miniature. Time to bust out your Polly Pockets. Suddenly, a woman named Iris (Miranda Edwards) knocks on the door. She asks for Reggie.

Todd walks with Mike, who's under an umbrella, through a park during the day on Reginald the Vampire Season 2 Episode 6, "Blood, Sweat, and Glitter."

A Depressed Angel and Todd’s Triumph

Next, Mike and Todd are in the Slushy Shack, watching a forlorn Uriel (Max Montesi) brood in the corner. He’s nursing his broken heart. Todd shares some of his entrepreneurial spirit with Mike and his latest culinary creation — the blushy. He has four mouthwatering flavors that any vamp will love. Todd asks Mike to test said flavors. At this moment, Mike breaks; he finally decides to turn Todd into a vampire.

Meanwhile, our Spokane gang gets on an elevator, arriving on an upper floor. They walk around for a spell until they realize they’re moving in circles. Reggie realizes they can only ride the elevator one at a time. Reggie already had his big introspective moment the last time he was there. So, it’s time for Maurice and Sarah to have their revelatory moments.

After everyone takes their respective elevator rides, Reggie exits the elevator to find a raucous party. He meets Santos (Ryan Beil), who welcomes him to the shindig. Reggie asks Santos where Abraham is. Santos would rather heap compliments on Reggie and evade questions about Abraham than, you know, reveal the Nephilim’s location.

Surfer Sarah

Then, Sarah runs into herself as a surfer. She has beach blonde waves and wears a wet suit. Surfer Sarah reminds our Sarah that she plans to quit the Slushy Shack. Now, Surfer Sarah spends her time surfing and having the occasional no-strings-attached fling. Sarah should take the elevator to the bottom floor if she wants this kind of life. If not, she can keep going up. She decides to go up and lands on the party floor, where she reunites with Reggie. Santos incessantly scratches his back. Somebody’s got a nasty rash.

Later, Iris reveals she traveled to Akron at the behest of Maurice, everyone’s favorite deacon. Of course, Maurice is out of state at the moment. Iris decides to stick around and help Angela find the perfect spell to take out Balestro. Elsewhere, Todd prepares to become a vampire. He’s got a dentist appointment and is considering waxing his legs. As for his fingernails? Keep them slightly long — it’s part of the brand. Todd lets it slip to Uriel that Mike plans to turn him into a vampire. Uriel doesn’t look pleased.

Next, Maurice meets a human version of himself — a married family man with two kids and another on the way. He stands in the kitchen in a robe while cooking breakfast. This is what would’ve happened if Maurice hadn’t met Angela. Family Man Maurice insists that our Maurice can have this future … if he presses the down button on the elevator. Maurice seems to legitimately consider this.

Sabnock

At this point, Angela and Iris have tried countless spells. They decide to summon the demon Sabnock. Sure enough, the women summon him. He rises as a red glowing ball. Unfortunately, Sabnock finds a home in Iris, flying into her mouth. Her eyes glow red as she communicates as Sabnock. Uh-oh.

Later, Maurice arrives at the party. Reggie introduces him to Santos. Santos still refuses to disclose Abraham’s location, claiming he hasn’t seen the latter in some time. He accidentally shows off his angel wings to our trio. Santos urges them to keep his angel status on the down low. He landed on Earth centuries ago but decided to remain.

Santos whisks Reggie away to the place where the latter will die. It’s a green spot with a lot of lamps. Reggie doesn’t want to see where he’ll die, especially with the day of Balestro’s arrival looming large. Before he leaves the vision, Santos whispers something shocking in Reggie’s ear.

Reggie and Sarah chat with Santos, an angel, while standing in a party that's washed in a purple light on Reginald the Vampire Season 2 Episode 6, "Blood, Sweat, and Glitter."

A Reunion

Once Reggie wakes up, he notices an entryway that wasn’t there before. Reggie, Maurice and Sarah wander through it to find none other than Abraham (Danny Wattley). He’s partying it up with some ladies. Reggie discovers that Abraham plans to sit back and do nothing as the angels eradicate the vampire race. Abraham urges our heroes not to underestimate him.

Meanwhile, Angela battles Sabnock. She prevails, condemning the demon to her miniature mansion. Sorry, Polly Pockets. Angela admits there probably aren’t any spells they can use to kill Balestro. If Reggie found nothing, it’s more than likely a bust. Suddenly, the grimoire flips to a page full of musical notes. It blasts out music that gets Angela and Iris moving and grooving.

Next, Reggie shares what Santos whispered: Abraham is Balestro’s son. It’s all in the family. Maurice believes Abraham is scared. Abraham unsheathes his fangs. Again, he suggests the gang shouldn’t underestimate him.

Enjoying the Final Days

Iris and Angela drink wine together. They dwell on the inevitable Death Day. Iris admits she’d rather be in Rome to live out her final days. Angela claims she wants to revisit Paris. She suggests they get the hell out of dodge and spend time in their respective paradises.

Abraham kicks Reggie, Maurice and Sarah out of his party. However, before he gives them the boot, he imparts a parting gift: Claire is the key. When our trio winds up outside, Reggie contemplates Abraham’s final words. Claire is the key … of what?

Meanwhile, Uriel lands behind Mike and Todd as the latter sits in the park. Still heartbroken over Sarah, Uriel pulls a feather from his wings. He uses it to slice his palms. It’s giving Christ stigmata. He turns to Mike, stating that he cannot let the vampire turn any more humans into vamps. He puts his hands on both sides of Mike’s face. Mike screams before turning into dust.

Uriel stands over Todd, who's on his hands and knees in the grass, during the night in the park on Reginald the Vampire Season 2 Episode 6, "Blood, Sweat, and Glitter."

Devastation

A distraught Todd falls to his knees. Todd screams after Uriel, claiming Mike changed his mind. He wasn’t going to turn Todd after all. Uriel leaves Todd to sob over Mike’s ashes. RIP, Mike. Speaking of Mike, he arrives in what might be Heaven. Photos of Mike adorn the walls. He wears an ’80s punk ensemble. Mike looks down at his hands before wondering aloud what the hell is happening.

Poor Todd.
