Deadline dropped exclusive casting news for Netflix and the Russo Brothers‘ espionage thriller The Gray Man. They shared that Regé-Jean Page, Billy Bob Thornton and Alfre Woodward will be joining an already long list of cast members. The project was originally in development at Sony before going back on the market and being snatched up by Netflix. Smart move on their part. This film is looking to really back a star-filled punch and will be the biggest-budget film in Netflix’s history.
The Russo Brothers penned the script alongside Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It will be an adaptation of Mark Greaney‘s debut novel, The Gray Man. It follows a freelance assassin and former CIA operative named Court Gentry (portrayed by Ryan Gosling in the film). The film will follow Gentry as he travels across the globe while being hunted by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA. The film will cover events that take place during Greaney’s first installment of the series.
We aren’t entirely sure who Page, Thorton, or Woodward are going to portray just yet. What we do know is that these three are bound to pack quite the punch! I would love to see them interact with Gosling and Evans as they play the world’s biggest game of cat and mouse. All three are coming off of highly popular series and have proven they can hold their own in a sea of big names, so I know they will make a huge impact on the film. We can’t wait to see more about The Gray Man and what their roles entail.
The Gray Man stars Gosling, Evans, Page, Thornton, Woodward, Ana De Armas, Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush Butters and Julia Butters. No release date has been set as of yet. What do you think about this casting news? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
