Red, White and Royal Blue has found its two male leads! Deadline announced this morning that Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine will join the cast of Prime Video’s romantic comedy adaptation of the bestselling book.
Based on Casey McQuiston‘s debut novel, Red, White and Royal Blue follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), the son of the United States’ first female president. Essentially American royalty, he has a longstanding feud with Prince Henry (Galitzine), third in line to the British throne.
When the world finds out about an altercation between the two, Alex and Henry must pretend to be friends or risk a full-blown diplomatic crisis. What begins as a fake friendship, however, grows into something more. Soon, the two find themselves in a secret romance that could threaten their nations.

The novel premiered in 2019 to enormous acclaim: it was a Goodreads Choice Award Winner for both “Best Debut” and “Best Romance of 2019” and named “Best Book of the Year” by Vogue, NPR, Vanity Fair and more. Soon after, Amazon Studios won the film rights in an auction. Matthew López will adapt and direct the project, with Clifton Collins Jr., Stephen Fry and Sarah Shahi set to star alongside Perez and Galitzine.
Perez is likely best known for Netflix’s The Kissing Booth films and HBO’s Minx. Galitzine is no stranger to playing a prince; he starred opposite Camilla Cabello in Prime Video’s adaptation of Cinderella.
