CBS released the first teaser for Stephen King‘s The Stand. The limited series will air on CBS All-Access later this year. According to Deadline, the teaser debuted during Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards.
The Stand is a post-apocalyptic tale about a global pandemic that wipes out 99 percent of humanity. Creepy, huh? The survivors are scattered throughout the world, but some are called by a higher power to serve in a war between good and evil.
The all-star cast is led by Whoopi Goldberg and Alexander Skarsgård. Goldberg plays Mother Abigail Freemantle, who gathers those survivors deemed good, and Skarsgård is Randall Flagg, the opposite to Mother Abigail, who wants to control the world.

In The Stand teaser we actually get to meet a few of the other characters. Frannie Goldsmith, played by Odessa Young, meets Mother Abigail in a corn field. Heather Graham, as Rita Blakemoor, appears lost in NYC with Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood. There are flashes of James Marsden as Stu Redman, Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, Greg Kinnear as Glen Bateman and Katherine McNamara as Julie Lawry with pink hair and a shotgun. YIKES! And of course, The Stand teaser wouldn’t be complete without Randall Flagg.
Check out the teaser trailer below. The Stand also stars Amber Heard, Henry Zaga, Brad William Henke, Irene Bedard, Nat Wolff, Eion Bailey, Fiona Dourif, Natalie Martinez, Hamish Linklater and Daniel Sunjata.
The Stand is written by Josh Boone and Ben Cavell. Taylor Elmore, Will Weiske, Jimmy Miller, Roy Lee and Richard P. Rubinstein serve as executive producers with Cavell. Jake Braver, Jill Killington, Owen King, Knate Lee and Stephen Welke also produce.
The Stand premieres on CBS All-Access on December 17, 2020.
