Season 1 of the HBO Max series Raised By Wolves brought us solid science fiction, mullet-wearing religious zealots, and androids called necromancers who can kill you with a scream. In other words, it’s wonderful. The series comes from creator Aaron Buzikowski and executive producer and science fiction wizard, Ridley Scott.

The first season debuted in September 2020 and was picked up for a second season shortly thereafter. A new trailer dropped today for the upcoming season and if it’s any indication, season 2 will be every bit as nutty and unconventional as the first.

The first season of Raised By Wolves follows two androids, Mother (Amanda Collin) and Father (Abubakar Salim) tasked with raising human children on an elusive planet, Kepler-22b. Earth is no more because of a great religious war that used war androids. The zealots, a Mithraic cult, find their way to the planet and conflict ensues. Oh, and Mother gives birth to snake baby.

A slow, haunting song plays during the trailer for season 2 and we hear the lyrics, “Something wicked this way comes, what’s done cannot be undone.” As the music plays, we see the androids and their human children trying to make a life in the newly found tropical zone of the planet. Marcus (Travis Fimmel), an atheist who transformed his face to look like a Mithraic officer in order to escape Earth (seriously, watch season 1, it’s wild), is still flirting with madness as he tries to take the children from Mother and Father. There’s android screaming, violence, fear, and death then the trailer crescendos into Mother saying, “What fun we’re going to have today.”

The official synopsis reads, “In season two of Raised By Wolves, Android partners Mother (Amanda Collin) and Father (Abubakar Salim), along with their brood of six human children, join a newly formed atheistic colony in Kepler 22 b’s mysterious tropical zone. But navigating this strange new society is only the start of their troubles as Mother’s “natural child” threatens to drive what little remains of the human race to extinction.”

Raised By Wolves returns to HBO Max on February 3rd.
