EARTH SHAKES! MORE THAN ONE WOMAN CAST IN NEXT SEASON OF TRUE DETECTIVE.

Three castings were announced by HBO for Season 2 of True Detective: Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly.

Season two will revolve around  three police officers and a career criminal who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. And, of course, creator Nick Pizzolatto says their will be a  “psychosphere ambiance.”

We already know that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn have signed on to be the sophomore season’s leads:

Vince Vaughn will be playing the career criminal, Frank Semyon, who finds himself  “in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”

Colin Farrell will be playing Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.”

Now for the new castings. Rachel McAdams will play Ani Bezzerides,  a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department officer “whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.” This is interesting because earlier, it was said that L.A. would not be the location of the second season. Well, let me tell ya, as a Los Angeles citizen, Ventura is pretty close so I’m sure the City of Angels will make an appearance.

Taylor Kitsch will play another police officer, this time a CHP officer who is “running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.”

The amazing Kelly Reilly will play Vince Vaughn’s wife, a former D-list actress who knows the dirty business of her hubby.

Good to hear that we have two ladies that, so far, don’t seem to be whiney, weak counterparts to the guys which was the case with season one.

Production won’t start until late next year so find your patient hats and put them on!
