Black Adam fans, we’ve got more exciting casting news for you! As reported by DeadlineQuintessa Swindell has joined the cast of the DC/New Line film as Cyclone a.k.a. Maxine Hunkel. Cyclone has the ability to control wind and sound and is a junior member of the Justice Society. This follows the recent addition of Sarah Shahi, who’ll be portraying a freedom fighter and university professor.

As for the rest of the main cast, Dwayne Johnson will play the title character, of course. Aldis Hodge is Hawkman/Carter Hall. Lastly, Noah Centineo will portray Atom Smasher/Al Rothstein. DC is remaining tight-lipped regarding plot details, but we do know the film will be an origin story.

Jaume Collet-Serra is directing, while Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani penned the latest draft of the script.

Black Adam is an anti-hero whose most known nemesis is Captain Marvel a.k.a. Shazam. He was imprisoned for 5,000 years courtesy of Shazam. Additionally, Black Adam is the ruler of Kahndaq.

Recently, Swindell was in HBO’s In Treatment opposite Uzo Aduba. They were also in HBO’s Euphoria and Netflix’s Trinkets. They’re slated to star in Voyagers alongside Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan, which will debut in 2021.

I’m stoked that the Black Adam roster is expanding! Swindell is a wonderful addition to the cast, and Cyclone is a legendary comic book character.

The film is scheduled to start production in Georgia in early 2021.
