Capcom won over fans of horror games yesterday during PlayStation‘s Future of Gaming Digital. After two years of remakes, we are finally going to see a new addition to the Resident Evil franchise. Resident Evil Village will be the eighth entry in the long-running survival horror series. It is currently in development using Capcom’s RE Engine and the next-generation console technology. This combination will take the series to new heights, showcasing the most realistic and terrifying graphics to date.

Resident Evil Village will continue the use of the first-person view as players take control of Ethan. Years after the events of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Ethan and his wife Mia have settled into a peaceful life. Poor Ethan has really been through a lot but it doesn’t seem like things are letting up. Tragedy befalls the happy family once again and the true nightmare begins with the return of series favorite Chris Redfield. Players will have to fight for every breath as they are being hunted by new vicious creatures. The village itself looks to be as terrifying as Raccoon City.

The trailer for Resident Evil Village is simply astounding. It starts off with a children’s tale about the creatures within these woods. One may think its silly, but as the trailer unfolds it proves there is truth to the tale. With a mix of horror, mystery, and just plain old zombie creatures this trailer showed off what makes Resident Evil one of the best horror franchises. By the time the trailer came to an end, I was already clicking restart just to experience it again. We have a lot of questions leading but it looks like we will have to wait a bit to get some answers.

Resident Evil Village is going to release in 2021 for PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X.
