Legion creater Noah Hawley announced the arrival of David Haller’s (Dan Stevens) parents, Charles Xavier and Gabrielle this season. Game of Thrones alum Harry Lloyd will play Professor X and Stephanie Corneliussen from Mr. Robot will play David’s mother Gabrielle. Both will be introduced in episode 8 of the final season according to Marvel.com
That Superhero Show on Acid
If you’re not familiar with the show, it centers on Haller, “a troubled young man diagnosed as schizophrenic” who discovers he has special abilities. The show is much different than any Marvel show on television right now. Most of the characters have superpowers and use them for their greater good. But the tone of the show is very….trippy. David falls in an out of his mind, other people’s minds, the past, the future and everything in between. It can be quite confusing at times, but will keep you on the edge of your seat. If anything, you have to see Aubrey Plaza‘s dance routine in season one episode six.
Hawley also said at TCA that he never intended for the show to go longer than three seasons. “I always thought of this as a complete story with a beginning middle and an end,” Hawley said. “It felt like three acts of a story, so this felt like a natural place to end it.” Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV assured fans that the Legion characters will live on in one way or another in the Marvel Universe.
Legion also stars Rachel Keller, Bill Irwin, Jean Smart, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Jemaine Clement, Hamish Linklater, Navid Negahban and Katie Aselton. Hawley serves as Executive Producer on “Legion”, with Loeb, John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Jim Chory.
Legion seasons 1 and 2 are available on Hulu. The final season debuts in June on FX.
