In a recent Facebook Live interview with The Hollywood Reporter, producer Shawn Levy talked all things Stranger Things… including some tidbits about the upcoming second season! Entertainment Weekly picked up on the interview and the most notable moments.
Levy talks in the 15-ish minute interview about casting, chemistry, what is uniquely ‘Duffer’ and Winona Rider‘s ‘face gate’. But he also gave a little bit of insight into season 2. For instance, when talking about budget and how they represented the Demogorgon in season 1, Levy says ‘Season 2 makes the Demogorgon look quaint’, and that the second season is ‘definitely darker’. Chills. I have them.
Levy also talks about the daunting expectations of their sophomore season, and a bigger budget saying that they as a team make sure that ‘all the bells and whistles don’t become so seductive that they lure us away from what counts’. As a fan, that’s good to hear. I anxiously await season 2, and I’m definitely looking for more of what I got in the first season. Levy says over and over that it’s about the characters, and that’s exactly what this fan wants to hear.
On the question of Barb, Levy was very clear. Barb is gone guys. When asked if Barb was coming back, Levy’s response was ‘No, you saw, she had like a creature, slug, worm, snake, coming out of her mouth. I don’t know that there’s a bounce back from that,’. I concur. I don’t need Barb to come back. Her demise was one of the most compelling things about the first season. What I do want, however, is #JusticeforBarb. We’ll have to wait until the fall to see if we get it.
