Batman is getting another prequel around a well-deserved and often overlooked character. The pieces are coming together on Pennyworth. And, actress Polly Walker (Line of Duty) will appear in a recurring role in the Epix series.
Pennyworth, from Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller, will center around DC characters created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. More specifically, Alfred is getting his own show! According to Deadline, “Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier in his 20s, who forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), who’s not yet Bruce’s father, in 1960s London.” We are so in for this premise!

Polly Walker will play Peggy Sykes, a dominatrix with a heart of gold? Does that work? Here’s what Deadline said: “one of Lancashire’s busiest and most successful dominatrixes. The sensible matriarch in a family of maniacs, Peggy is fiercely loyal, endlessly resourceful and lives by her own strange but rigorous moral code.” So, yes.
Production on the 10-episode first season of Pennyworth is already underway in the UK.
