The Starship Iris is gone. Only one survivor remains.

A new podcast from a new network, Procyon, crashed onto the scene in January 2017, and has already garnered a wide following on the web. The Strange Case of Starship Iris is great fun for listeners. If you’re mourning the loss of great podcasts like Wolf 359 and EOS 10, check Starship Iris  out!

Plot of The Strange Case of Starship Iris

Violet Liu (Cindy Chu) is the sole survivor of a catastrophic accident on Starship Iris. She is a biologist, and the most junior member of the crew. She is trying desperately to survive, when a friendly voice comes over the comm system. Its not Ella, the Gratuitously Pleasant Female Voice AI, instead it’s a woman named Kay Grisham (Ishani Kanetkar). Kay informs Violet that her ship is rapidly running out of air, and she’d like to rescue her. Violet is immediately suspicious.

Follow Violet as she learns more about the mission she was supposed to complete, and why it all went wrong.

Review of The Strange Case of Starship Iris

The Strange Case of Starship Iris is well performed by the actors and well mixed by the producers and the sound effects/ sound mixing team (Erin S and Hannah Cross). Every episode is clearly very well thought out in terms of relationships, and how it fits into the overall story.

From the very beginning, this podcast grabs the listener. Fans quickly fear for Violet’s life as a protagonist, and root for her survival. Binge-ability is not only an option, it’s practically a must.

Each character is surprisingly three dimensional, considering the short run thus far. Even the arguably comic relief character of Jeeter is intricately designed to lay in the mosaic that is Starship Iris. These characters feel real, and this little peek into their lives feels like dropping in on old friends.
