“I’m playing Mercy today, because apparently I hate myself.”
Truer words have rarely been spoken. Especially when I’m rolling Mercy solo and not with my pre-made group.
Ever wonder what it’s like to play Mercy but healing really isn’t your style? Wonder no more and watch the video below, weep for all the Mercy players and protect your healer.
I play Mercy, I love playing Mercy, but there are matches and there are days when I wonder why the hell I keep playing her. I have personally experienced all five items on this list, including going in solo during overtime because the rest of my team decided hanging back and letting the clock run down is a better option. Maybe they wanted the match over with, maybe they didn’t realize we were out of time, but someone should go in there to keep the game going so we can make one last push. I’ve lost count how many matches I’ve played where an entire game was turned around during overtime.
Other things I’ve experienced, teammates running away from me when I’m actively healing/boosting and leaving me to die at the hands of a lone opposing team member. I’ve survived a few of those encounter and killed some of the aggressors but, more than likely, I’m going to die. I’m going to die because you chose to run away from the healer that is actively healing you because ONE person came at you. There is no good reason for this.
Here’s a tip, you want healing? You want resurrection? Protect the healer! It’s not that hard, really. When a Reaper, or Tracer, or any member of the opposing team is actively attacking your healer, you should do something about that. Honestly, it’s common sense here. Mercy has a gun, but that means she takes time out from healing or boosting you to protect herself. The gun also doesn’t do much damage and really isn’t that great. You may die while Mercy is attempting to save herself. When Mercy cries out she is taking damage, she is taking damage, protect that teammate. Or you can all die.
When I have teammates that protect me, I want to reach through the screen and hug them. Hug them a lot, or buy them alcohol of their choice.
Because, here’s the thing, there is only so much abuse a Mercy player will take before they get salty and switch to say, Tracer.
