Production for Marvel Studio’s big introductory foray into the mystic arts, Doctor Strange, is in full swing. We’ve already seen some behind the scenes pics of Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor, playing Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo respectively, walking around in Nepal.

And whole that gave us a good idea of Dr. Stephen Strange’s emotional status at the beginning of his journey and gave us a solid look at Baron Mordo, we didn’t get much else.

However, then today, Executive Producer Louis D’Esposito posted this pic taken from set.

It’s unclear just where exactly they are, but there are really only two possibilities.

They are either in Doctor Strange’s residence, known as the Sanctum Sanctorum, or they are in The Temple of the Ancient One. Given the architecture of the set, it’s more than likely the temple. This would be where Doctor Strange first meets the Ancient One, played by Tilda Swinton, and is where the one-time physician is first trained in the mystic arts to become the Sorcerer Supreme.

If you take a closer look at the set, you can see a few things. First of all, on the door behind them is a symbol known by a few names — The Anomaly Rue, The Window of the Worlds or, more commonly, the Seal of the Vishanti. It’s a seal of mystical protection and keeps the residence safe from most magical attacks.

If you’ve read any Marvel comics dealing with Doctor Strange, you’ve seen this symbol on his Sanctum Sanctorum.

Right next to it is a stone statue that has an eye-like shape to it and it’s possible that this is related to the all-powerful Eye of Agamotto, a badge of the Sorcerer Supreme’s station in life and one of the most powerful artifacts in the Marvel universe.
