Philadelphia Eagles stars Jalen Hurts and A.J Brown were captured engaged in a sideline spat during their recent win over the Minnesota Vikings. The broadcast of the game showed Brown and Hurts clearly bickering just before the start of the fourth quarter, leading to head coach Nick Sirianni moving to quell the issue.
The incident clearly didn’t negatively impact proceedings as the Eagles made it two wins from two as they overcame the Vikings 34-28 in their first home game of the season.
Eagles fans who are confident that their team can do well this season may want to back that hunch with a bet. With that in mind, we recommend checking out pennlive.com for all the in-depth analysis of the brands operating in Pennsylvania as well as a number of great promotions and bonus offers.
On the incident, Sirianni was keeping tight-lipped, stating,
“I don’t know. I didn’t see what was going on with that. We were just trying to manage the game,”
“The conversations we have on the field are going to be private, and the conversations we have in our locker room are going to be private. You don’t need to know what was going on right there.”
Hurts also broached the issue in the post-game press conference and outlined the reasons for the heated discussions;
“I think everybody wants to make plays and everybody wants to contribute. I have no worry about him, he’s a great player, a great teammate, a great friend, and we’ll do anything and everything to win.”
“We won. We won; I don’t want to make it bigger than what it is,”
“We’re talking about external factors here; those things don’t matter. What’s said out there that can potentially divide this group doesn’t matter. We won.” Hurts added.
DeVonta Smith also touched on the incident.
“That’s part of being a competitor, man. You always want to feel you’re a part of the team, helping the team and things like that,”
“Anytime something like that is going on, it’s not anything bad. He’s not bashing nobody. He just wants to feel part of the team, wants to help us.”
Jason Kelce also offered his opinion on the matter;
“Everybody’s going to get frustrated,”
“I mean, I’ve been frustrated on the sideline. I was frustrated last week. I think that you want guys talking. I think actually, it’s worse when guys aren’t talking. So the fact that they were having an exchange at all is a positive in my mind.” Kelce claimed.
The Philadelphia Eagles look handy thus far, winning their first game of the season 25-20 at New England, and in week three, they travel to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Raymond James Stadium, which is sure to be another tough clash for Sirianni’s team.
He’ll be looking to go one better this season after securing a Super Bowl finish last time around, which came off the back of a great 14-3 regular season and big wins over the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs, before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35.
