More casting news for Disney Plus’ upcoming adaptation of Rick Riordan‘s Percy Jackson and the Olympians has arrived. This time, we learned that Lin-Manuel Miranda will be donning a pair of winged shoes for the guest-starring role of Hermes.

The series is based on Riordan’s best-selling novels that follow the title character Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old modern demigod played by Walker Scobell. He is coming to terms with his newfound divine powers. Of course, this comes at the same time that Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. This leads Percy and his fellow demigod friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) to embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.

Manuel is perfect for the role of Hermes in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The messenger god is responsible for looking out for travelers and thieves. He is a trickster who is charismatic, boisterous and the life of the party. Unfortunately, all of this still can’t seem to fix his struggling relationship with his son Luke (Charlie Bushnell). Manuel will join previously announced guest stars Megan Mullally, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Tim Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, Adam Copelan, Suzanne Cryer and Jessica Parker Kennedy.

James Bobin will direct the pilot from a script written by Riordan and Jon Steinberg. Steinberg will also oversee producing alongside Dan Shotz.

Production on Percy Jackson and the Olympians is currently underway, and the series is set to hit Disney Plus in 2024. Are you excited to see Miranda join the cast? Do you think we will see any epic singing numbers from Hermes? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
