Penny Dreadful Season 2 Trailer Is Full of Suspense, Scares, Gore and Madame Kali!

I want to start watching Season 2 of Penny Dreadful NOW! This trailer was spectacular. Over the trailer, there’s a spooky song being sung by a woman and  I recognized that tune right away as “The Unquiet Grave,” an English Folk song about a man mourning his true love too hard. Yep, he mourned her too hard so she cannot attain final resting peace. Sad and creepy. Perfect for Penny Dreadful.

In the trailer, we see many quick, intense vignettes of all the main characters. There’s  turmoil, tears, fear and confusion. As I watched, my gutty works became all knotted up and I wanted to hide behind my pillows!

Then for a final blow to my fragile constitution, a shot slowly zooms in on Madame Kali (Helen McCrory – Harry Potter, Peaky Blinders), whom we met only a couple times in the first season. She has actually been the siren that is hauntingly singing the folk song. She’s in a bathtub, singing and smoking a cigarette and that’s when it becomes apparent, ewwwwwwww, it’s a bathtub full of BLOOD. The best part of that segment is when she douses her cigarette in the blood. Once again, ewwwwwwwwwww.

The trailer finishes with Vanessa Ives (Eva Green – Casino Royale, The Golden Compass, Sin City) standing alone in the countryside and we hear her voice say, “When Lucifer fell, he didn’t fall alone.”

I am so creeped out right now.

Awesome.

Penny Dreadful doesn’t premiere until April though. April 26th to be exact on Showtime.
