From publisher Curve Digital and developer FuturLab comes the video game adaptation of the award-winning Peaky Blinders. The game, titled Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, puts players in the role of the mastermind and lets them pull all the strings of Tommy Shelby and his gang while they take control of the streets of Birmingham during the early 20th century. The game takes place right before the events of season one so if you haven’t seen the show it won’t spoil too many things.
In Peaky Blinders: Mastermind, the player is able to tap directly into Tommy’s ability to construct complex scenarios in his head. This allows the player to take control of different members of the Shelby family that are down on the ground during gameplay to help bring the plan to fruition. It also features a mechanic that will allow the player to freely set and rewind a character’s path in order to perfectly synchronize the wheels of the plan. This will be needed to solve the complex puzzles found within the game.
The team at FuturLab worked alongside the team behind the show, including creator and writer Steven Knight. This helps to tie the game into the universe and create a story that allows the players to witness the true rise of Tommy Shelby as the leader of the Peaky Blinders. They also worked alongside the UK art-rock band Feverist to create the Peaky Blinders: Mastermind soundtrack. The group worked alongside the show for the first season’s soundtrack.
Peaky Blinders: Mastermind is set to release later in 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam. You can catch up on all five seasons of the show on Netflix.
