This is amazing news.  Galaxy Quest may finally get the TV series that has been so often hoped for.  Paul Scheer (The League, Children’s Hospital) has signed on to write the new Galaxy Quest TV series that has long been in the works, and may now actually come to fruition.

Galaxy Quest, the 1999 sci-fi parody starring Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen, Alan Rickman and Sam Rockwell,  among others; has had some TV buzz around it for years.  The series was reportedly close to production when Rickman met his untimely death in early 2016, according to Deadline.

With Scheer on board, it’s getting new life and a bit of a reprieve.  There’s no confirmation of the use of the original cast for the TV series, as it stands now.  But, all of us that might have found Seth McFarlane’s comments about his new sci-fi parody, The Orville, off-putting (no comment) can rejoice in the possibility that the best sci-fi comedy ever made may get it’s time to explore it’s own universe on a streaming television series; helmed by a guy who is a fan and a truly funny comedic voice.

Let’s go, Paul Scheer.  By Grabthar’s hammer, we’re counting on you.
