Our First Real Look at the Amnesty Bay Lighthouse Home for AQUAMAN

The DC film to be released next year is Aquaman. They started filming earlier this year and, amazingly, they are still in production. This has been an unusually long production cycle for a film, but it’s due to director James Wan doing as much in camera as he can. That means as many of the effects as they could, whenever and wherever possible, were done on set with the actors, using prosthetics, make-up, lighting and camera effects. Sure CGI will be heavily utilized — it’s a superhero film, how could it not — but they are doing all they can to avoid anything that could possibly feel false.

Part of that reality is the Curry family lighthouse in Amnesty Bay, the childhood home of Arthur Curry who went on to discover his under-the-sea roots as the rightful heir to the throne of Atlantis. Now, a lot of productions would have just done some epic scale location scouting to find a house already built and then just put the lighthouse in via CGI; however, this is not that type of production. As we said, Wan wants everything as real as possible — so they built the Curry family lighthouse from scratch, exactly as they wanted it.

Not too long ago, we saw the initial stages of production on the house. At that time, it was just a very well constructed metal framework set on a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean. The initial looks came from Australia’s Gold Coast Bulletin, who shared the pics from Hasting’s Point, which is apparently also a popular whale watching location.

However, today, just about a month later, it looks like a beautiful home in Amnesty Bay, MA, where Thomas Curry could raise a young Aquaman. Not to mention, if it is a popular whale watching location in Australia, that’s perfect for Aquaman to discover if he can indeed still talk to sealife. Vuvuvuvuvu.
