Attention, Clone Club! We’ve got a head writer and executive producer for AMC’s Orphan Black sequel series! As reported exclusively by Variety, Anna Fishko boards the project to fulfill those roles. Variety also revealed in 2019 that a sequel was in development.
The writers’ room for the Orphan Black series is open; however, plot details remain under lock and key at this time. Thankfully, this iteration isn’t a reboot of the original program starring Tatiana Maslany but a new story in the same world. You can breathe easier now, Clone Club!

Fishko’s credits include AMC’s mega-popular Fear the Walking Dead as a supervising producer and writer in 2018 and co-executive producer/writer for Netflix’s short-lived The Society. She’s also worked on Prime Video’s period series The Last Tycoon as a writer and producer and FX’s drama-thriller Tyrant as a co-producer and scribe.
Orphan Black stars Maslany as Sarah Manning, who witnesses a woman who looks like her identical twin commit suicide on the subway train tracks. This harrowing event prompts Sarah to uncover a conspiracy to kill her and her newfound clone “sisters.”
John Fawcett and Graeme Manson co-created the critically lauded series, with Maslany scoring three Emmy nods and a Golden Globe nomination. She won the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series in 2016. Fun fact: Maslany played 14 of the 276 LEDA clones.
I’m glad this won’t be a reboot since the original series with Tatiana Maslany is perfect as is. While I’m intrigued by the idea of a new story unfolding in the same universe, I can’t help but feel it’s too soon. The Orphan Black flagship show ended in 2017; it’s only been five years. For now, I remain cautiously optimistic.
