AMC unveiled the first trailer for Orphan Black: Echoes, and it’s a doozy. The first look at the original series set in the Orphan Black universe premiered on Thursday at New York Comic Con. Read on for a trailer breakdown and to find out what we know about the project so far.

It isn’t easy to follow in Orphan Black‘s footsteps. The original series followed Tatiana Maslany as over a dozen clones caught in a complex web of dangerous conspiracies. The show lasted five seasons, ending in 2017. Maslany won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2o16.

Aside from casting information, there aren’t many details about Orphan Black: Echoes. Krysten Ritter stars as Lucy alongside Keeley Hawes, Amanda Fix and Avan Jogia. Rya Kihlstedt and James Hiroyuki Liao join the cast as series regulars, and Fear the Walking Dead writer Anna Fishko serves as creator, writer and executive producer.

The teaser opens with a disoriented Lucy waking up to see a woman staring at her. “What’s wrong with me?” she asks, “Why don’t I know who I am?” Cryptically, all she’s told is that she’s been through a procedure. Lucy makes a break for it, ending up on a rooftop looking out on a futuristic city. The rest of the trailer is all flashbacks, bloody knives and scary laboratories. There’s also a truly great tagline: “A completely unique copy of the original.”

Based on the teaser, Lucy is in for a rough time. It’s unclear how long we’ll have to wait to find out more since the trailer just states 2024 as a release date. At that point, Orphan Black: Echoes will be available on AMC, AMC+ and BBC America. Until then, check out the trailer and let us know what you think below!
