The Once Upon a Time finale is upon us. And some of the series favorite heroes are set to return for the happy ending. Entertainment Weekly reports Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, and Emilie de Ravin have all signed to reprise their roles one last time.
Once Upon a Time went through a major shake up at the end of season six when Morrison, a.k.a. Emma Swan announced that she was leaving the show. ABC announced a series reboot for OUaT and Goodwin, Dallas, de Ravin and others were released. Only three cast members, Lana Parrilla (Regina/The Evil Queen), Robert Carlyle (Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin), and Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook) continued on in the new story with new cast members. Morrison and de Ravin have each appeared in season seven episodes. Morrison’s appearance cleared up the confusion about Swan and Hook’s relationship. And de Ravin’s appearance helped to close the book on Belle’s story…almost.
“Seven years after we set off on this magical journey, we prepare to say goodbye to the cast, crew and writers that made the ‘happily ever after’ that is Once Upon a Time possible. We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to say farewell than by reuniting so many of the characters that our fiercely loyal fans spent years with on their adventures. We hope everyone joins our Once family, old and new, for what we hope will be the sendoff of a lifetime befitting this stellar cast and its incomparable fans.” – Executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis
Jared Gilmore (Henry Mills) and Rebecca Mader (Zelena/the Wicked Witch) will return for the finale as well. Gilmore appeared in the season premiere, transitioning Henry to his older self, played by Andrew J. West. Mader has made several appearances on the show, working side by side with Parrilla. Fans can also expect to see Storybrooke favorites, including Sean Maguire (Robin Hood) in the finale. I wonder if Robin Hood’s return means Regina will finally get her happy ending?
Once Upon a Time airs Fridays on ABC.
