Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) returns to Crisis on Infinite Earth this week on the Arrowverse crossover. But he’s no longer the Green Arrow.
The Crisis continues next week on Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The stars of The Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman and others join Team Arrow and Team Legends in the final battle against the Anti-Monitor.
If you recall, Oliver sacrificed himself in part one of the Crisis when he faced the Anti-Monitor’s (LaMonica Garrett) shadow army. The Monitor (Garrett) tried to remove him by force, but Oliver stopped him to save as many people as he could from the destruction of Earth-38.
Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara) and Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) were the most affected by his death. They enlisted Legends Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) and John Constantine (Matt Ryan) to resurrect Oliver in a Lazarus Pit. Oliver’s body was revived, but his soul was stuck in Purgatory.
With a little bit of luck, and some charm from Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), they found a way to Purgatory to retrive his soul. That’s when Jim Corrigan (Stephen Lobo) showed up to recruit Oliver for a ‘higher purpose.’ Oliver said goodbye to Mia and John Diggle (David Ramsey) and left with Corrigan.
EVERYTHING HAS TO HAVE AN END
Amell shared the latest Crisis trailer on his twitter account. From what we can see in the trailer, we will get to see what happens to Oliver after he leaves with Corrigan. Corrigan says everything Oliver has been through has prepared him for the ultimate fight against the Anti-Monitor. Oliver joins the Paragons, giving them hope that they can bring everyone back.
Through a montage, there are a few battle going on. Team Arrow joins the Paragons against the shadow army. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is fighting an unknown opponent in the woods. Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) has lasers coming out of his hands…that’s new. The Monitor is back. I think Sara, in a black suit, actually dies, unless it’s a memory or a dream. Someone is throwing the Flash around.
There are some returns as well. Earth-38 Superman (Tyler Hoechlin), Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker), Black Lightning (Cress Williams), and The Atom/Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh). The final sequence is of our main heroes, Green Arrow, the Flash, Supergirl, Sara Lance in black again, Black Lightning and Batwoman (Ruby Rose).
My thought is that the Arrow episode covers Oliver’s story and they bring back the Earths and The Monitor. All of the heroes are back for hour two, the Legends of Tomorrow episode. Whatever happens, it looks so exciting! I don’t know if another crossover can top this one.
The Crisis on Infinite Earths concludes on Tuesday January 14, 2020 on The CW!
