Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (2024)

We will also get a rare, beautifully animated historical anime in October. In the 15th century, anything deemed heretical would result in a person being burned at the stake, especially science that challenged God’s word. In Poland, child prodigy Rafal is expected to major in Theology at university. Still, after meeting a mysterious man, Rafal begins researching the “truth” that could land him in the hands of the Inquisition.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth will begin releasing in weekly installments on Netflix starting October 5, 2024.

Ranma 1/2 (Season 1)

The classic, iconic romantic-comedy anime receives its first remake since the 1990s and will introduce a new audience to Rumiko Takahashi’s tale. The lives of three daughters, Akane, Nabiki, and Kasumi, get turned upside down when their father, Soun Tendou, who runs the Tendou Martial Arts School, promises that at least one of his daughters will be wed to another martial artist’s son. Ranma and his father, Genma, arrive, but they hide a great secret: whenever water touches the pair, Ranma turns into a girl, and Genma turns into a giant panda.

The first season of the Ranma 1/2 remake streams on Netflix starting October 5, 2024.

Blue Box (Season 1)

Taiki Inomata, a third-year junior high student at Eimei Academy, is a high school badminton team member. He rises early to get to the gymnasium first, but Chinatsu Kano, Taiki’s crush and a first-year student in senior high, always beat him there. Chinatsu is super popular as a beautiful rising star on the basketball team. Taiki has the opportunity to grow closer to Chinatsu when a strange twist of fate sees her move into his house. However, Taiki is first determined to be a worthy match for her and sets out the goal of competing in the badminton nationals.

Season 1 of Blue Box will begin streaming on Netflix weekly on October 5, 2024.

The Boy and the Heron (2024)

If you missed the chance to see The Boy and the Heron in theaters, then you are in luck. The critically acclaimed film is a hand-drawn animated masterpiece that tells an original story written and directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki. A young boy named Mahito, yearning for his mother, ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead. There, death comes to an end, and life finds a new beginning.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft (Season 1)

Something about this new Tomb Raider anime reads spooky to me, so I’m excited to see it leading the 2024 Fall Anime Season. The series takes place after the conclusion of the video game Shadow of the Tomb Raider video game, in the Crystal Dynamics reboot. The series will bridge the gap between the prequels and beloved original games.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft comes to Netflix on October 10, 2024.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance (Season 1)

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is an all-new original animation composed of six 30-minute episodes focusing on the European front of the One Year War, which was the setting of the first Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam

The first season of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance will be added to the Netflix catalog on October 17, 2024.

Dragon Ball DAIMA

Dragon Ball DAIMA is an all-new episodic series from the beloved Dragon Ball franchise created by Akira Toriyama. This little series shrinks the beloved cast of characters for a chibi-style adventure set in the Demon Realm. The less serious nature of the “mini” character designs harks back to the early days of Dragon Ball when Goku was going on fantasy/sci-fi adventures.

You can watch Dragon Ball DAIMA on Crunchyroll starting October 11, 2024, with a specialty movie event coming in November.
