This is not a drill Star Wars fans. Hayden Christensen is returning to the Star Wars universe for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney Plus. He will be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker, now Darth Vader. The announcement came during the Disney Investor Day live show. LucasFilms president Kathleen Kennedy teased the casting as “the rematch of the century” between the apprentice and master.

The Mandalorian writer-producer Deborah Chow went on to say that they couldn’t tell a story about Obi-Wan without Darth Vader in it. She also went on to tease that we are going to definitely see the two face off again within the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. With this knowledge, it appears that Christensen’s portrayal of Darth Vader will be far more than a flashback or two. Chances are we are going to see some epic Lightsaber battles in the future. But who has the high ground this time?

Christensen will be joining Ewan McGregor who is also reprising his role as the series title character. Getting to see the two of them back in action is one of my Star Wars wishes, and Disney is here to answer it. The series is set eight years after the end of Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope. So this will hopefully answer quite a few questions fans have surrounding the events that transpired in between.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi is a limited series that will feature six episodes and will begin filming in Spring 2021. Disney also shared during the event that they have a total of 10 Star Wars series in planning over the next few years. What do you think of the casting news? Also what new series do you think we are going to see? Let us know in the comments below and on social media! For more information from the event check out the video here!
