The Walking Dead: Dead City is coming soon. This is Maggie and Negan’s spin-off that takes them to New York City. The first photos were presented at The Walking Dead panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday. Stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan took time out of their busy filming schedule to talk a little bit about the new show.
The six-episode first season has been shooting in nearby New Jersey for the past several weeks. It is the first of three new spin-offs coming soon. The show was announced back in March, spoiling the fate of Maggie and Negan.
Maggie was first introduced in season two and quickly became a fan favorite. Negan, also a fan favorite from the comic book series, first appeared in season six finale. That episode was one of the most anticipated and one of the most hated. Fans had to wait until the season seven premiere to see who Negan’s first victims would be. Unfortunately for Maggie, one of his first two victims was her husband Glen, played by Steven Yeun.
Maggie left for a short time after sparing Negan’s life. When she returned, she made it very clear that things were not okay with Negan. In season 11, Maggie has warmed up to Negan. The show writers made him a bit more human than he was in season seven. He’s about to become a father, making him more selfless.
You can check out the first photos below. Not much is known about the story or how and why Maggie and Negan end up in the same place, just that it’s some kind of secret mission. New cast members include Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong, Karina Ortiz as Amaia, Zeljko Ivanek as “The Croat,” Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Jonathan Higginbotham as Tommaso and Trey Santiago-Hudson as “Jano.
The Walking Dead: Dead City premieres in April 2023. Be sure to catch the final episodes of the The Walking Dead on Sunday nights on AMC and AMC+.
