They’re coming back for more, baby! We learned from Deadline that Hulu animated sci-fi comedy Solar Opposites will get a fifth season. News of the show’s renewal sprang from NYCC 2022, where co-creator/executive producer Mike McMahan and executive producer Danielle Uhlarik participated in a panel.
Season 3 of the hit series debuted on July 13 with 11 episodes. A Halloween special, entitled “A Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special,” hit the streamer on October 3. Season 4 is slated for sometime next year with a 12-episode count. We don’t have a premiere date for it as of yet.

Solar Opposites took Hulu by storm in May 2020, proving to be a boon for the streaming juggernaut. The series follows a quartet of aliens from the planet Shlorp. Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Terry (Thomas Middleditch) must find refuge after Shlorp explodes, so they head to Earth with their replicants Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) and Jesse (Mary Mack) and their Pupa. The Pupa stores all the history and knowledge about Shlorp in its DNA. Once the Pupa reaches maturity, it’ll inevitably consume Earth and terraform it into a new Shlorp.
Roiland co-created the series, and executive produces alongside McMahan, Uhlarik and Josh Bycel.
I’m so ready for more sci-fi shenanigans with my favorite aliens! The Halloween special is tons of fun, brimming with the show’s signature self-referential, pop culture-laden humor and delightful holiday-themed tropes. Plus, John Kassir reprises his role as The Crypt Keeper. What’s not to love? Give us approximately 100 more seasons of Solar Opposites, please, and thank you.
