Yesterday, during Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur panel at NYCC 2022, fans were gifted with exciting news surrounding the upcoming Disney Channel and Dinsey Plus animated series. We also got the chance to enjoy a clip featuring the show’s theme song, “Moon Girl Magic.” It was an exciting panel worthy of the pint-sized superhero and her giant red dinosaur.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is based on Marvel’s comic series centering on 13-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette (Diamond White) and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur (Fred Tatasciore). And where did she find herself a 10-ton T-Rex? Well, this super-genius accidentally brought Devil Dinosaur through time into present-day NYC. Watch out, NYCC attendees; you never know when you might spot the T-Rex.

With Devil, her loving family and best friend Casey (Libe Barer) by her side showering her with support, Lunella takes on the personal of Moon Girl and sets out to make a difference and protect her Lowe East Side neighborhood. Alfre Woodard, Sasheer Zamata, Jermaine Fowler and Gary Anthony Williams round out the voice talents of Lunella’s family. Laurence Fishburne will not only be serving as the executive producer but will also fill the recurring role of The Beyonder.
We will also get to hear the incredible voice talents of Gideon Adlon, Pamela Adlon, Anna Akana, Ian Alexander, Alison Brie, May Calamawy, Andy Cohen, Wilson Cruz, Daveed Diggs, Asia Kate Dillion, Luis Guzmán, Maya Hawke and Jennifer Hudson. It’s a packed cast, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur dropped some exciting news for the series moving forward. Most specifically, it will be moving forward toward a second season. Disney Branded Television has ordered a second season before the first airing. We have high hopes that the series will do well and open the door for future animated and live-action shows introducing the lesser-known characters within Marvel’s vast collection of heroes.

The second exciting announcement was a look at the opening theme song for the show. “Moon Girl Magic” was written and produced by Raphael Saadiq and performed by White herself. The clip shows Lunella popping in a cassette tape before a montage of her getting ready for school. She goes through her day before settling in with Devil Dinosaur. It then swaps to her skating through the streets and fighting crime. The song is super catchy and the perfect start to the show.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur kicks off on the Disney Channel on February 10, 2023, and then a later release on Disney Plus. We’ve dropped the clip down below for your enjoyment. Are you excited to check this animated series out? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
