Commander MIchael Burnham in her new suit for season three Star Trek Discovery.

During the CBS All Access Star Trek virtual panel during NYCC 2020 today, we got a quick sneak peek. The clip showed off the first two minutes of Star Trek: Discovery‘s first episode of season three. The clip is bursting from the screen with action from beginning to end, which is a great way to kick things off. The very first thing we see is a space fight between two ships. After dancing in and out of space debris, we finally get a look at who is piloting one of them.

Cleveland Booker (David Ajala) is arguing with the pilot of the other ship, who claims he stole his cargo. Booker fires back that it doesn’t belong to him but it belongs to himself. Before the argument can get any further, Booker’s ship detects a space-time anomaly. As he gets closer to it in an attempt to break away from the other ship, a wormhole opens and shoots out an unknown object.

In the next scene, we learn that the unknown object was Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green). She collides with the side of Booker’s ship in her time travel suit before she hurtles toward the planet below. Both Booker’s ship and Burnham’s suit seem to be having similar issues, as they are unable to slow their falls. Burnham is able to get her suit reset just seconds before she is about to crash. And as she comes closer to the ground, the clip ends with the Star Trek: Discovery logo. Talk about cliffhangers!

We only have to wait a few more days though to figure out how graceful their landings are. Star Trek Discovery returns for season three on Thursday, October 15, 2020. You can catch up on the first two seasons on the CBS All Access website.
