Still of Daveed Diggs and Jennifer Connelly in Snowpiercer.

Residents of the Engine Eternal, this is your lucky day! TNT’s Snowpiercer made a pit stop at NYCC 2020 on Thursday. They came armed with an exclusive sneak peek of Season Two and a premiere date! Hint: Snowpiercer is returning to the train station sooner than you think.

Now, the panel boasted showrunner Graeme Manson as well as stars Daveed Diggs (Andre Layton) and Jennifer Connelly (Melanie Cavill). Newcomers Sean Bean (Mr. Wilford) and Rowan Blanchard (Alexandra Cavill) also joined the bunch.

The panel commenced with Bean and Blanchard giving their personal accounts regarding their respective characters. Bean described Mr. Wilford, the enigmatic train conductor who we thought died in Season One, as a man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. We also learned that Blanchard’s Alexandra and Connelly’s Melanie will have an electrifying storyline this season.

Additionally, Diggs and Connelly delved into the “marriage” dynamic between Layton and Melanie. How their roles have essentially switched. Initially, Melanie appeared to be this untouchable tyrant with seemingly unlimited power. She also came across as Snowpiercer‘s antagonist until we discovered who she truly was. Layton started out as a lowly Tailee who cultivated a revolution to seize the train. Now, he sits in the seat of power. Connelly also shed light on Melanie’s motivations and what she endures at the start of Season Two.

Then, fan questions were presented to our Snowpiercer occupants. Everyone revealed what three items they’d bring aboard a train in a dystopian wasteland. Apparently, Bean really digs banana milkshakes. Diggs had my favorite answer of the group — a bottle of nice gin that he’d sip slowly until it was gone. A man after my own heart.

Toward the end of the panel, we were blessed with a brief teaser for Season Two. The clip shows interspersed shots of Layton and Mr. Wilford, including voiceovers from each character. The Snowpiercer teaser ends with Layton and Wilford’s dialogue syncing up as they say their last words in tandem while facing each other. I, for one, am more than ready to embark on this new journey.
