Mark Grayson flying over the city in Invincible.

Ready for another superhero series? During NYCC 2020, Amazon Prime Video unmasked its next hero family in the first trailer for Invincible. The story is based on the Skybound Image Comics created by Robert Kirkman. It follows the story of 17-year-old Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) as he comes of age. He is pretty much like every other high school kid. Expcept his dad happens to be Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), the most powerful superhero on the planet. This means Mark has some pretty big shoes to fill if he wants to follow in his footsteps.

The Invincible trailer introduces us to this superhero family through a father-to-son lecture. Omni-Man is giving young Mark a speech on how every kid thinks they are unstoppable, which in turn makes them careless. Of course, Mark doesn’t have to worry so much about that. Because he himself is … well invincible. We get some pretty funny shots of Mark trying to understand and master his powers. This includes a nice game of father-son catch around the world and Mark trying to fly without running into a plane. Let’s just say he has some pretty rough starts before he really gets the hang of it.

The trailer then shifts and we see Mark don the superhero mask. This leads to the montage we seem to see in every superhero movie. The one where the hero takes down villain after villain while never seeming to break a sweat. Except in Invincible‘s trailer, there is a whole lot more blood. Let’s just say that this cartoon clearly isn’t meant for kids, but it sure does look great. Everything comes to a close as we see one last villain shift from an unassuming girl to a big green alien creature. I’m throwing my vote out there that her race will be the big bad guys of the series.

Invincible will feature eight hourlong episodes and will launch on Amazon Prime in 2021. Check out the trailer below and let us know how excited you are for this new superhero series!
