NYCC 2018 is only a few weeks away, between October 4th to the 7th. People are already planning which panels they are going to attend during the convention and mapping out the fastest route in between. To help those who are still looking for which panels to watch, I have included a list of 13 panels I’m super excited for. I broke them up into which days they will be held with additional information for start times and rooms. I wish I could have just included the entire list of panels below however that would be a bit silly of me! If you can’t find a panel here or want to know which other ones will be going on you can check out the link here. Regardless of how you spend your time at NYCC 2018 I hope you all enjoy it!
Thursday October 4th
Keynote Speech – Marjorie Liu: New York Times best selling author is kicking off NYCC 2018 this year with her keynote speech. This will be held at the New York Public Library at 476 5th Ave. Marjorie is known for her work in fiction and comics. She has done extensive work with Marvel and the X-Men series as well as many others. This incredible woman is exactly what we need to kick off this years convention! The panel starts at 9:45 AM.
Cowboy Bebop 20th Anniversary: This panel celebrates the 20th anniversary of what I think it the best anime of all time. Feel free to try and prove me otherwise. Listen in as script writers, character designers, and mechanical designers discuss the legacy of Cowboy Bebop and its international fame. We also get to hear from the voice of Spike Spiegel, Steve Blum and his experience bringing this character to life. This panel will take place in room 1A06 in the Javits Center starting at 4:00 PM.
Startalk @ New York City Comic Con, Hosted by Neil Degrasse Tyson: Join everyone’s favorite astrophysicist, Neil Degrasse Tyson, as he joins forces with physicist Brian Greene and comic co-host Chuck Nice for a little bit of science, comedy and pop culture all rolled into one. This will be a live show of the popular radio show that began back in 2009. This will take place on the Main Stage of the Javits Center starting at 7:45 PM.
Friday October 5th
Q&A With Travis McElroy: Join The Adventure Zone‘s Dungeon Master as he discusses all things Dungeons and Dragons. He will touch on how to build a world and using RPGs (role playing games) as creative story telling. This panel will be run by Travis McElroy but will include some special guests! This panel takes place in room 1A10 in the Javits Center starting at 11:15 AM.
Mortal Engines: Join filmmakers and the cast of Mortal Engines as they discuss the post cataclysmic movie that sees gigantic moving cities preying upon much smaller ones in an attempt to evolve to a new way of living. Peter Jackson will share his experience in bringing this amazing story to life. The panel will be taking place at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden starting at 12:00 PM.
Tor Presents: #FEARLESSWOMEN: Tor Books is celebrating women in speculative fiction and normal fiction this year with their #fearlesswomen campaign. This panel will celebrate the works of several women in publishing including K. Aresnault Rivera, Charlie Jane Anders, Kayti Burt, Seanan McGuire, V.E. Schwab, and Annalee Newitz. This panel takes place in room 1A18 in the Javits Center stating at 5:15 PM.
Netflix & Chills: This panel will give a whole new meaning to the term “Netflix and Chill”. The casts of upcoming Netflix shows, Umbrella Academy, The Haunting of Hill House, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will discuss the thrills, chills and other parts of the other-wordly variety. Panel goers will also get a first look at The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance before anyone else! This panel takes place on the Main Stage of the Javits Center and begins at 7:30 PM.
Saturday October 6th
Good Omens: Join David Tennant, Michael Sheen, and Neil Gaiman for a first ever sneak peak into the new dark comedy based on the best selling Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. They will discuss everything we have to look forward to in the upcoming series along with much more. The panel will be held at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and begins at 10:00 AM.
Hellboy: Stars David Harbour, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Ian McShane join comic book creator Mike Mignola to discuss all things Hellboy! Seriously who would want to miss David Harbour and his awesome “dad dance”! The panel will take place at the Main Stage in the Javits Center and starts at 11:00 AM.
Twisted Toonz: Join this all-star group of voice actors as they preform a live script reading on stage of CLUE! The group will include famous voice actors Steve Blum, Grey DeLisle, Richard Horvitz, Phil Lamar, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, and Janet Verney. I am super excited to see who each actor is going to portray and how they bring this iconic story to life! The panel will take place on the Main Stage in the Javits Center starting at 12:45 PM.
Sunday October 7th
Riverdale Exclusive Sneak Peek and Q&A: Join the cast of Riverdale as they kick off their new season on October 10th! Panel viewers will get an exclusive sneak peek at the new season followed by a Q&A with series stars and producers. This panel is taking place at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden and kicks off at 10:00 AM!
Talks Machina with the Cast of Critical Role: Join Brian W. Foster and the amazing cast of Critical Role as they answer fan questions regarding Vox Machina, the Mighty Nein, and everything else Critical Role related! Get there early to make sure you get a spot in line! The panel will be held in at the Main Stage in the Javits Center beginning at 10:45 AM.
Yogaquest Presents Doctor Who: A Narrated Yogic Adventure!: Take your workout to NYCC this year! This panel blends the world of yoga (yes you will get up and stretch and move around) and fan-fiction story-telling. A certified yoga instructor will lead panel goers through a quest to improve strength, balance and flexibility. Best thing is you don’t have to have any previous experience or workout stuff. This panel is held in room 1C03 of the Javits Center starting at 1:15 PM.
If there is a specific panel you really want to attend make sure to get to the room or area early! Seats are guaranteed to fill up fast and most don’t allow viewers to stand in the back! Those who are attending now have the ability to enter Pre-Show Lotteries in order to have seats for some of the most popular panels. Entry and more information can be found here.
