On the final night of NYCC 2017, FOX and X-files released a new trailer for season 11 at the beginning of their panel. Creator Chris Carter had plenty to say about the show, Mulder and Scully’s relationship, and the future of the series. Fans are excited, and with good reason.
If you were hoping for some juicy tidbits from the panel, you’re in luck. It was fruitful. Deadline quotes Carter as saying ‘Never say never’ when asked if there was a possibility for another X-files movie. He promised a cliffhanger to end the season, that the Cigarette Smoking Man’s backstory would be revealed, and that ‘familiar faces’ would again be joining Mulder and Scully in their search for the truth.

The trailer is great. It gives you all of the familiar tone, tension, shadows, blurry alien surgeries, flashlights, spotlights and existential threat you’ve come to expect from the X-files. It’s got the added twist of Mulder and Scully searching for their son, who of course, is somehow connected to the truth. And, it starts with Scully, of all people, talking about a preminition she’s had, saying ‘I’ve seen how it begins.’ The Cigarette Smoking Man has an interesting line as well. He says ‘Civilization is in its final stages. I’m asking you to betray the whole human race.’ Ooooohhhh!! Will they or won’t they? And, will they or won’t they?!?
