The Flash ended on quite a cliffhanger last week. The team finally have Cicada (Sarah Carter) right where they want her until Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) stopped the Flash (Grant Gustin) and Vibe (Carlos Valdes) from destroying her dagger. Just before doing so, Ralph was in deep contemplation about Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh). He figured out that Thawne’s plan had a plan and it involved Cicada. It may have something to do with the dagger looking thing on Thawne’s prison suit.
Here’s what we know. Thawne helped Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) travel back in time to meet her father, Barry Allen (Gustin). Of course, that wasn’t from the kindness of his heart. Thawne doesn’t care about anyone but himself. Sending Nora back in time created a new timeline where a man name Orlin Dwyer (Chris Kline) become one of Flash’s nemesis, Cicada. Cicada is dead set on killing all metahumans in existence for hurting his niece Grace Gibbons (Islie Hirvonen). The Flash was able to get through to Orlin and talk him out of killing any more metahumans. That brought in a new Cicada, a grown up Grace (Carter). Grace is stronger, faster, and has more dark matter in her system. She arrives to carry out her uncles initial goal, kill all the metahumans.
The team has been so focused on stopping Cicada II, that they haven’t even noticed what Thawne has been up to. In fact, Thawne is in another time and space all together. Thawne is in 2049 and awaiting execution. Iris (Candice Patton) and Ralph were able to visit 2049 and Ralph noticed something strange about Thawne’s suit. By the end of last season, fans saw what Ralph saw. A dagger shape in Thawne’s prison suit…or is it the actual power dampening dagger?
In this promo for the season finale of The Flash, Barry and the team must find a way to stop both Thawne and Cicada II. But Cicada II is almost unstoppable. And that puts the team in a lot of danger. Watch the promo below.
Barry (Grant Gustin) faces off with his oldest, and most formidable nemesis, Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh). Gregory Smith directed the episode with story by Lauren Certo and teleplay by Todd Helbing & Eric Wallace (#522).
The Flash season five finale airs Tuesday, May 14 on the CW.
