In the last 24 hours No Man’s Sky has recieved an update, and it’s huge!
Gamers have long been using No Man’s Sky as a whipping boy for how not to release a game. It was buggy, broken, lack-lustre, and ultimately a disappointment for many whom believed they were sold a different game.
A lot of people took to various social media outlets to vent their collect spleens, straight up calling Sean Murray and Hello Games thieves, since its release there has been minimal communication from Hello Games regarding No Man’s Sky, until now.
If you could have lived our lives over the last months, you’d know how meaningful this is.

Update 1.1, The Foundation Update, brings out huge amount of content and improvements. I took a few minute to boot up the game again to see for myself, and guys… it’s better.

The whole game feels more polished, the ship controls are much more tactile, and worlds more properly diverse and populated. The creatures found on your new worlds seem much less like random limbs stuck on random torsos; yes they’re still procedural generated so sometimes they won’t make sense but that just the nature of the beasts.
The updated user interface makes playing much less of a chore, the motion blur and filter effects make the game flow much better, and give a proper sense of speed.

A few other nifty things were the populated space stations, not just a random NPC with a trivia question anymore. Now you can recruit personnel for your home base or your very own Freighter! The new base building mechanic is pretty easy to use and fairly intuitive, but a bit basic and clumsy: you can easily figure out what you want to do, it can be a little tricky to make it happen just right. To help you sell your new precious resources, you now have you very own teleportal to the nearest space station. Your ship will follow along too so don’t worry about getting stranded.

There really is a huge amount of new content and updates to existing assets. in the midst of a very antagonistic media storm Sean Murray and his team have been busy beavering away at the update.
There’s been a lot said about what kind of game No Man’s Sky should have been, there was always a feeling of untapped potential since it’s initial release. This update goes a long way to realizing that potential. If you have a copy of No Man’s Sky laying around, now might be the time to journey back into that Wild Green Yonder!
