Solo: A Star Wars Story released a second spot only a few days after the first. Both seem to focus on the crew and their relationships to one another. The first was mostly about Han (Alden Ehrenreich) and Chewie’s (Joonas Suotamo) relationship. This one, on the other hand, seems to be about Han’s relationship to the rest of the crew plus their connections to one another. So what are “hairy and the boy” up to in this spot?

It appears that Qi’Ra (Emilia Clarke) and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) know each other more than on a name basis, with her asking him for a ship. And boy does he have one! The Millennium Falcon isn’t for everyone, it needs a certain type of pilot. And of course we all know that pilot is Han Solo. But when he seems to be cozy with his dynamic with Qi’Ra and Lando, Beckett (Woody Harrelson) reminds him (with an edited implication) that ‘these people’ are not his friends. But damn do they make a good team, as we see Lando calling his name and tossing him his infamous blaster.

There are a lot of new scenes sprinkled in the footage but there’s something that needs to be mentioned. As time has gone on, more scenes shown in trailers are being altered slightly to include characters that weren’t there. For example Han and Qi’Ra walking down a sandy hill originally didn’t have Chewie in it. In this trailer, the big stand out is Dryden Vos’s (Paul Bettany) scene of smashing his art has been flipped and now includes Han trying to dive out of the way. I will put all my Monopoly money down in a bet that it’s the scene where Han gets his (Harrison Ford‘s) chin scar.

One more thing I’d like to quickly mention is the extreme lack of Val (Thandie Newton) in the promotional material. We’ve maybe seen her in one or two shots. I’m very curious what they’re doing with her and what exactly is going on with the lack of footage. I know she wasn’t pictured in the “main cast” photo when production started but it seems a little odd. I just want to see more of her, she seems like a major bada**.
