Nintendo loves their indie games, and we love them for it! The Nintendo Direct channel aired their special Indie World Showcase to preview some of the upcoming indie games releasing onto Nintendo Switch consoles. It was a nearly half-hour showcase packed with some exciting titles coming out this year!
Missed the showcase? No problem, we’ve got you covered with our favorite picks that were shown off during the 2022 Indie World Showcase. The games will be organized here based on their release schedule, so you know which ones you’ll be able to enjoy first. Launch trailers have been included with all of the games, so you can preview them here.
Soundfall
Soundfall is out right now in the Nintendo Eshop for your gaming pleasure. It is made by the studios Drastic Games and Noodlecake. It reminds me of Lila’s Sky Ark from the music-themed trailer. Soundfall is a fast-paced music-based dungeon crawler that combines looter-shooter action with rhythm-based gameplay to create a world of music.
Wildfrost
There is no wait for Wildfrost, as it is also out right now! This is a rouge-like deck builder by Chucklefish, Deadpan Games and @Gaziter. Players will build up a deck of powerful card companions and elemental items to battle to reach the Sun Temple and banish the frost once and for all!
OneShot
OneShot by DANGEN Entertainment is an adventure game with puzzles that go beyond its own window that establishes a unique bond with the main character. In OneShot: World Machine Edition, you discover a strange computer operating system with a self-contained world installed. Explore this world to unravel its mysteries and help guide a child on their mission to restore the long-dead sun. Ready to take your last shot at saving the world? The game will release in the summer of 2022.
Ooblets
Ooblets is a life simulation video game developed and published by Glumberland. This one might not be coming out until this summer, but it has actually been in early access for Xbox and Windows since 2020! Ooblets is a game for my cozy game fanatics. It is a joy-filled dance extravaganza where you can decorate your home and grow some friends! Fans of games like Garden Story will find a lot of joy in this title!
ElecHead
I hope you are ready to literally use your head! ElecHead is a cleverly put-together puzzle platformer by NamaTakahashi. It feels a little bit Mega Man-inspired with the small-dose platforming, tight level view and technology-themed elements. Fans of that franchise will love ElecHead. Ready to join the fight to restore the light? It will be hitting the Nintendo Switch this summer!
We Are OFK
Team OFK is bringing us We Are OFK, an interactive narrative series of arguing over lyrics, sending sad texts and playing Interactive Music Videos! It is an interactive making-of-the-band series about dreaming, dating and paying rent in Los Angeles. We predict it will be heavy on story-driven gameplay and emotional baggage. Are you ready to see if you can make it in LA? Check it out when it hits the Nintendo Switch this summer.
Silt
Silt is a surreal underwater puzzle-adventure game by Spiral Circus Games and Fireshine Games. Alone in an underwater abyss, you are a diver searching the deep to uncover long-forgotten mysteries. Possess the creatures around you to solve puzzles and travel further into the darkness. Are you ready to dive into the dark? It will hit the Nintendo Switch in June of 2022.
Another Crab’s Treasure
I might be most excited about Another Crab’s Treasure, the second game from the studio Aggro Crab. It is set in a vibrant undersea kingdom where a hermit crab embarks on a treasure hunt to buy back his repossessed shell. As your crab, Krill, traverses the ocean, he will pick up new abilities to aid in his fight for his home. Try not to be too crabby while waiting for Another Crab’s Treasure to come out next year.
Will you be checking out any of these indie titles? Which game are you most excited to start? Comment to tell us which games from the Indie World Showcase caught your eye! If you want to watch the full showcase, you can do so here!
