The June Nintendo Direct for 2023 was a powerhouse showcase that revealed new titles for Nintendo’s largest franchises. This will be a comprehensive list of the most exciting reveals from the stream and a look into what you’ll be playing on the Nintendo Switch in the coming months and beyond.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder

The biggest surprise of the stream, by far, was the announcement of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The trailer shows off Mario and his friends as they run across a colorful landscape that is being transformed as they go thanks to the magic of the Wonder Flowers. These game-changing items trigger spectacular moments you have to see to believe.

We won’t have long to wait as Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be released on October 20, 2023.

Super Mario RPG Remake

Originally released in 1996, we are finally getting a remake for Super Mario RPG. This colorful game has updated graphics and cinematics that add even more charm to the unexpected alliance between Mario, Bowser, Peach and the original characters Mallow and Geno. If you never had a chance to play the SNES version, you will not want to miss this remake.

The Super Mario RPG (Remake) is coming out on November 17, 2023.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon Remaster

Speaking of remakes and remasters, we will be seeing the 3DS’ Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon make the move to the Nintendo Switch as well.

The remaster for Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will be haunting the Nintendo Switch in 2024.

Princess Peach Game Teased

Princess Peach fever infected moviegoers and the internet in mass when Jack Black‘s ballad for Princess Peach was revealed in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Now, it looks like we will be getting another dose with the announcement of the upcoming Princess Peach game. Very little was revealed during the direct, including the title or expected release date, so we will just have to sit tight and wait for more news.

Detective Pikachu Returns

Put on a fresh pot of coffee because Detective Pikachu is back on the case. In Detective Pikachu Returns you’ll search for clues in Ryme City, where Pokémon and humans coexist in harmony. With the help of many other Pokémon, Tim and his talkative Pikachu partner work together to solve a series of mysterious incidents in this cinematic adventure game.

Detective Pikachu Returns will be released on October 6, 2023.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Expansions

The paid DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was given an extended gameplay look during the direct. I love the idea of adding new areas to existing Pokémon games and regions rather than releasing new main games too frequently. It’s a great way to add new life and features to the franchise without over-saturating the fanbase in new games.

The best part is that this DLC is available right now! Check it out here

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Zelda and Ganondorf Amiibos

Great news for collectors, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is getting two new Amiibos: One for Zelda and one for Ganondorf. These two Amiibos join the Tears of the Kingdom Link Amiibo which was released alongside the launch of the game.

The Amiibos are expected to be available around the Holidays this year and are available for pre-order now.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince

Finally, in a game that feels like Dragon Quest meets the Pokémon series, gamers were treated to the announcement of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince. The key to Psaro’s success lies in synthesis: the ability to combine two monsters and create a stronger offspring. Each new creation brings Psaro one step closer to his goal of becoming the Master of Monsterkind.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince has a release date of December 1, 2023.
