The first Nintendo Direct for 2023 was a powerhouse showcase packed with amazing reveals. This will be a comprehensive list of the most exciting reveals from the stream and a look into what you’ll be playing on the Nintendo Switch in the coming months.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

We have to start this list by talking about all of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom news. This was the last thing shown at Nintendo Direct, but it is the biggest reveal. Along with a gameplay trailer, viewers were told the standard game would be an unprecedented $69.99 while the collector’s edition would cost $129.99. Zelda fans were treated to a look at the game’s collector’s edition and a new Link amiibo. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will release on May 12, 2023.

Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Games

The good news doesn’t stop there, as we learned that all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers would have access to the Game Boy games, while those with the Expansion Pack will get access to Game Boy Advance games. It will be an ongoing program, with more games added shortly. This feature is available now for Nintendo Switch online subscribers.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe

We also got a new look at Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe just weeks ahead of the release. This remaster includes a new epilogue that will unlock after you finish the Story Mode, and up to four players can play cooperatively. There is a demo for it in the eShop available now, and the full game will release on February 28, 2023.

Disney Illusion Island

Diehard Disney fans will be happy to know we got a second look at Disney Illusion Island. In this new Disney adventure, our heroes will have to find three magical books and save small furry creatures named Hokuns. Disney Illusion Island will release on July 28, 2023.

Harmony: The Fall of Reverie

Harmony: Fall of Reverie is the latest game by the Life Is Strange developer, and it looks like it will bring in the same unique story ideas and tough choices. The game will follow Polly, an “upbeat young woman who can travel between our world and Reverie, a realm where the deities live.” The release date is currently set for June 2023.

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon

Before Bayonetta was all raw power and raw *cough* appeal, she was an apprentice witch. This new spin-off will let players learn more about Bayonetta’s earliest days alongside her infernal demon partner Cheshire. Players will need to use elemental powers of wood, rock, water and fire to solve puzzles and complete their quest. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will release on March 17, 2023.
