Bradley Cooper in Nightmare Alley

I know what you are thinking, The Game Awards 2021 is a video game award show. But that doesn’t stop them from showing off trailers for upcoming movies. One, in particular, is director Guillermo del Toro‘s Nightmare Alley. The neo-noir psychological thriller film is based on the 1946 novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham. This will be the second adaptation of the novel and from the trailer, it looks both stunning and dark.

Nightmare Alley features an ensemble cast including Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen and David Strathairn. The film follows Stan Carlisle (Cooper), an ambitious carny, who hooks up with a corrupt psychiatrist Dr. Lilith Ritter (Blanchett), who proves to be more dangerous than he is. The new trailer gives us a peek into the dark noir tone of the film while showing off just how great this film looks.

The trailer for Nightmare Alley gives us a look at how Carlisle finds himself working in the carnival and what he brings to an already diverse cast of characters. It introduces the relationship between Carlisle and Ritter but keeps the mystery of just how dangerous she really is. It captivates and draws viewers in and now I need to know how this story ends.

The film hits theaters starting December 17, 2021. We’ve dropped the trailer below. What do you think of this neo-noir adventure? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
