Hey all you cool cats and kittens!
If you adored the utterly insane Netflix docu-series, Tiger King, and are needing more content then you’re in luck! From Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios comes a currently untitled, scripted Tiger King series. It will star Nicolas Cage as the King himself! In his first-ever television role, Cage is set to play the now-infamous exotic zookeeper, Joe Exotic: a gay, mullet-wearing, gun-totting Oklahoma resident.
Written by American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana, the series features eight episodes and is based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad.
“The story centers around Joe Schreibvogelhem, a.k.a Joe Exotic, an eccentric, exotic zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park even at the risk of losing his sanity,” Variety reports. “The series will live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.”
There is currently no additional news regarding casting or a release date. Be sure to check back here and we’ll keep you updated. For now, to get an idea of what you’ll see in the upcoming series, stream Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness on Netflix!
