He’s hooked on a feeling! Deadline revealed that Nico Santos (Superstore, Crazy Rich Asians) filmed scenes for the recently wrapped Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Of course, as per Marvel’s usual, details regarding the plot are under lock and key.
This film marks the end of James Gunn‘s critically and audience-acclaimed cosmic trilogy. Our main crew returns for the threequel, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff and Bradley Cooper. Besides the Guardians, Will Poulter (as Adam Warlock), Elizabeth Debicki, Chukwudi Iwuji, Daniela Melchior and Maria Bakalova round out the cast.
Filipino-American actor Nico Santos is best known for portraying Mateo Liwanag on NBC’s Superstore for its six-season run. Additionally, he played Oliver T’sien in Jon M. Chu‘s 2018 rom-com Crazy Rich Asians. His future credits include the Andy Palmer comedy The Re-Education of Molly Singer as Ollie and the Vicky Wight rom-com Happiness for Beginners as Hugh.
The first two films in Gunn’s Guardians series, Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), grossed more than $1.6 billion globally. Production for the third installment began in November 2021, with the project wrapping in early May of this year.
We’ll have to wait for Vol. 3, but it won’t be long until we see our Guardians onscreen again. The primary gang (save Zoe Saldana) will appear in Taika Waititi‘s Thor: Love and Thunder, slated for debut on July 8, 2022. Then, we’re getting The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, written and directed by Gunn, which we expect to premiere in December 2022 on Disney Plus.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will take theaters by storm on May 5, 2023.
Who do you think Nico Santos will play? Are you ready for more Guardians shenanigans? Sound off in the comments!
